Why does 1/2 bottle of water freeze in a oblong shape instead of round like it was when put in freezer?
Answer:
because when water freezes it goes from a liquid to a solid. there for the mass grows making it freeze that way. didn't you pay attention in science?
because the polar bonds in water create cohesion between the molecules resulting in a rounded top
Because it's laying on it's side & expands as it freezes.
When it froze, it expanded and, as the water in contact with the sides of the bottle froze first, the water, as it solidified from the sides inwards, was pushed upwards by the expansion, forming a domed shape at the top.
