23 watt is what in Volt?
V = sqr(23 * R), where R is the (unknown) resistance of the circuit
V = 23 / A , where A is the (unknown) current
A few possibilities;
If the resistance just happens to be 1/23 ohm , then the voltage is 1 (and the current is 23A)
if the resistance happens to be 1 ohm, then the voltage is about 4.8V (and the current is 4.8A)
if the resistance is 23 ohms, then the voltage is 23 (and the current is 1A)
If the resistance is about 626 ohms, the voltage would be 120V (and the current 192mA)
if the resistance is about 43478 ohms, the voltage would be 1000V (and the current 23mA)
That doesn't make any sense. Watts are a measurement of power, and volts are a measurement of electrical potential (i.e. voltage). They are not measuring the same type of thing.
That's like asking how many pounds are equal to 10 feet.
(or like asking how many kilograms are equal to 3 meters.)
what is your current in amperes or resistance in ohms;
P=voltage times current
P=current^2 times resistance
P=voltage^2 divided by resistance
so you need one more known unit to solve your voltage
Watts and volts are units of measure for different things.
Watts are units of power. Volts are units of potential.
One volt is equivalent to a joule/coulomb.
One watt is equivalent to a joule/second.
Note that an Amp is a coulomb/second
So Power (in watts) = potential (in joules/coulomb) * current (coulombs/second)
You cannot convert watts to volts.
A Watt is a unit of electrical power, which expresses how much energy (measured in Joules) gets used or transmitted per second. A Volt is a measure of electric potential. It expresses how much energy you get per unit charge, with no mention of time.
1 Watt = 1 Joule/Second
1 Volt = 1 Joule/Coulomb
(a Coulomb is a unit of electrical charge)
If you happen to know the current flowing through something, measured in Amperes (affectionately called "Amps"):
1 Ampere = 1 Coulomb/Second
you can figure out how many Watts of energy are used if you know also the voltage:
1 Watt = 1 Ampere * 1 Volt
So you need to know two things in order to figure out the third.
I agree with everyone, watts don't translate into volts without another value, amps or ohms.
if you mean voltamp they are the same. ie 1000W is the same as 1000VA. VA=Volts X Amps, Watts=Volts X Amps. Transformers are rated in VA, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that uses VA to indicate rating.
