"Take Off" on BluePrints?

When someone tells me that they are going to do "take offs" on construction site blueprints or plans, what information can I expect them to return to me?

Answer:
estimates of materials and labour to do the job, or for bidding purposes
On the havc plan they will be looking at the amount of registors, thermostats etc. Electric how many switches , plugs etc.
It refers to determining what is needed to build whatever the blue print is of by reading it and figuring out what materials and equipment should be purchased.
