Fouriers's Law is the most fundamental differential eqn for conductive heat xfer:

rate of flow = dQ/d theta = -k A (dt/dx)

k=thermal conductivity factor of the through material
A=area at a rt angle to the heat flow
(dt/dx)=rate of change of termperature with the distance in the direction of the heat flow

There are variations to this based on steady state, unsteady state, phase change.
