How are electric motors and electrical generators related?

Answer:
Electric Generators convert mechanical energy to electrical energy while electric motors convert electrical energy to mechanical energy.

From construction point of view, there is not much difference.
they can be one and the same if they are a DC motor. if you turn a DC motor manually you will generate electricity.
