Most Schools of Engineering require all students to take the same courses for the first year. Typical courses include:

First Semester
English Composition I (3 credits)
General Chemistry I (3 credits)
General Chem I Lab (1 credit)
University Physics I (3 credits)
Calculus I (3 credits)
Humanities or Social Sciences Elective(s) (3 credits)

Second Semester
English Comp/Lit (3 credits)
General Chem II (3 credits)
General Chem II Lab (1 credit)
University Physics II (3 credits)
Calculus II (3 credits)
Humanities or Social Sciences Elective(s) (3 credits)

If you are just starting, I would suggest refreshing your math and science skills and not worry about civil courses.
