What is the effect of CFC's in our environment?

also the harmful effect of the UV?

CFC's or Chloro Fluoro Carbons are considered to be harmful to the ozone layer. When released in to the atmosphere, the bonds tend to break down and free radical chlorine,as they are known attack the O3 ozone molecule, breaking into and O2 and ClO. Fluorine is far less damaging. With reductions to propellants where the CFC's were usually found it has been shown that the ozone hole is shrinking. With out the ozone layer the bombardment of hamrful UV is more prominent
Effect of CFC's in our environment:

1. Ozone layer depletion. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ozone_deple...
2. Global warming. They have a global warming potential (GWP), in terms of carbon dioxide equivalence (over a time period of one hundred years) between 6000 and 9800 per kg. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/global_warm...

Harmful effect of UV i.e. Ultraviolet Radiation
In humans, prolonged exposure to solar UV radiation may result in acute and chronic health effects on the skin, eye, and immune system.

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation present in sunlight is an environmental human carcinogen. The toxic effects of UV from natural sunlight and therapeutic artificial lamps are a major concern for human health. The major acute effects of UV irradiation on normal human skin comprise sunburn inflammation (erythema), tanning, and local or systemic immunosuppression.
