What is the purpose of the leaf and root for photosynthesis?

Photosyntesis: Production of food using light energy. The leaf has following advantage of providing large surface area for 1. absorbing sun light, 2. for carbon dioxide and oxygen diffusion. 2. The root also provide large surface area but 1. for the purpose of absorption of water and minerals for the said purpose, 2. serve as a storage area for the final product of photosynthesis.
photosynthesis is the process of making food by autotrophic plants.
in this process root does the function of absorbing water and minerals such as nitrogen and leaf performs of absorbing sunlight and medium for exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide
