How can we prevent wave erosion?

put up dikes
build a levee.
We need to build a wall round the country. Plus it'll keep out those damn immigrants ;-)
Concrete shaped as 4 edges with 60 degree angles(like a carbon atom) and piled together has been develloped in Canada as an efficient mean for breaking waves and slowing erosion.
The best way would be to not dam rivers, which provide natural sediment sources to coastal areas. You can't stop wave erosion with jetties or levees or any of that, you can just reduce it in one place with bad consequences for non-protected places.
The only real solution is to make sure all the sediment makes it to the coast in the first place, where its deposition will offset losses due to wave erosion.
