Met office News: 2007 - forecast to be the warmest year yet. Please comment and tell friends.?

2007 is likely to be the warmest year on record globally, beating the current record set in 1998, say climate-change experts at the Met Office.

Each January the Met Office, in conjunction with the University of East Anglia, issues a forecast of the global surface temperature for the coming year. The forecast takes into account known contributing factors, such as solar effects, El Niño, greenhouse gases concentrations and other multi-decadal influences. Over the previous seven years, the Met Office forecast of annual global temperature has proved remarkably accurate, with a mean forecast error size of just 0.06 °C.

Met Office global forecast for 2007

Global temperature for 2007 is expected to be 0.54 °C above the long-term (1961-1990) average of 14.0 °C;
There is a 60% probability that 2007 will be as warm or warmer than the current warmest year (1998 was +0.52 °C above the long-term 1961-1990 average)

Most of the participants at are voicing their opinions when answering questions. It looks like in your case you really do your research and you always present hard evidence. But this time it is just a prediction. You want be able to convince any opponent of GW by facing him with predictions. It is more like preaching to the choir. The believers will cheer, the opponents will laugh.
I spend lot of energy trying to change someone’s opinion and I’m not sure if I ever succeeded. I don’t know how to do it and I don’t know if it is possible at all. I guess part of being human is the right to be ignorant and the right to defend it. If it would be easy we all be brainwashed by TV commercials and politicians.
Since I herd 1st time about GW I was a skeptic. .It took me some time to convince myself that it aint so. It was not the hard evidence, the charts, the weather, not even The Day After Tomorrow . It was the money trail. I asked my self question. Who profits by accepting global warming and who profits by denying it? Maybe that’s the question we should ask?

P.S. I will tell my friends
This is a great posting. We all need to be reminded that if we do not become concerned and take action, we will destroy this planet of ours.

Thanks for this.
