Why is love is associated with heart?
good question. I think its because when you hurt from a broken heart, you feel it in your chest (or maybe you think you feel it in your chest because you think your heart is associated with love). I have often thought about that myself. The heart really has nothing to do with it, it's all in our heads
Oh man great questions. Since when is pumping blood through veins considering having feelings?? It is probably because of cartoons and the same douche-bag that started making <3 look like a heart. I thought thats what a heart looked like until I was 6 years old =P
Maybe because when you're in love your heart beats faster
actually mind is related to all things , mind work on brain and brain work on blood's oxygen and brain received from heart hence it is assume that love is associated with heart.
just read something, they did a study and found the heart grows larger when your in love. believe or not.
I think because it used to be believed that the heart was the "center" of the body and controlled things like feelings and love etc.I think that even when it was discovered that the heart did not actually control these things it was still used to represent feelings. I am not 100% sure about this.
When we are in love, our heart beats a little faster just to see our loved one. Also a brain would look just awful on a Valentine card :)
Body's directions are dependent on heart ,head and combination of both.Love is the category which does not consult head and when consulted ,its gone that's why love comes under heart.
That one goes back to OLLLDDDD times.
The heart symbol has been associated with love due to ancient greek and roman mythology. They were the first to decide that the "soul" of man was located in the heart (the organ itself). Through much thought and debate, love was decided to be the most valued part of having a soul, and thus over time, the two came together to form the symbol of heart = love that we all know today.
This was your best answer.
The heart is biblical related.
Thus saith the Lord, cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the Lord.
The heart knows his own bitterness; and a stranger does not share with his joy.
God says that the heart knows things. So the mind and the heart are very closely associated. We are suppose to guard our hearts from sin and evil and not to hear or look upon evil.
Sin must damage the heart. Love must protect the heart.
Yes, yes my friend there is a direct connection. It's all about the psych-biochemistry. When you are in love your brain releases chemicals that signal your heart. Same thing with broken hearts.
There are lots of theories that answer this question and they can be found at the link below (click on "culture" on the left side).
Basically, the heart (the one inside your body) has been known since ancient times to pump blood throughout your body ... so why not emotion as well? A commonality in the ancient cultures is that they all believed that the heart was the center of emotion.
I remember reading in high school that some ancient Greeks felt that the emotions came from the liver. But when it was found that the heart weighed more and was more firm than the liver, the heart won out as the favorite for being the center of emotions.
Personally, I always thought it was because your chest hurts so bad when you are in emotional pain ... hence, the term "heart-broken".
Also, the heart shape (<3) has been linked to other symbols from the middle ages that when put together in a drawing make a heart. These 3 other symbols represent fire/flame, openness and togetherness (this is shown on the site).
