Answer:
1. sound transfers into dreams. so yes.

2. again, the sound will be heard in the dreams. about the light, it could be represented in something bright, but sound is the ticket

3. pillows and blankets? maybe if they help you sleep longer. lucid dreaming only happens during REM cycles, REM cycles increase the longer you sleep.

4. if the direction of your board helps you sleep longer and deeper, than maybe, but no, direction doesn't have anything to do with it.

i had my first lucid dream in a nap. naps are great for lucid dreamings. having a recording go off at a certain point in the night to go into your dreams helps you realize you're dreaming when you're dreaming. have fun!
Damn good answer by john. i can only say that i know wen i'm dreaming is wen i wake up like normal each morning-then instead of getting up knowing you've had enough sleep-go back to sleep. Thats a defo for lucid dreams 4 me-oh yeah an if you can get your hands on a sounds effect tape-do so! you wouldn't believe the ammount of fun you'll ave during your dreams!! "High Five" 4 our imagination! lol
1) Not necessarily. If you like the white noise that comes from the TV then it may actually help you to relax better than the silence. Try both and see which works better for you.
2) Again, it depends upon what you feel will help you to get to sleep better and will be more relaxing for your sleeping.
3) Yes. The bigger the mess around you when you sleep, the more you will toss and turn and will not sleep smoothly through all the sleep stages. Make your bed however feels the most comfortable for you without going overboard. Sleepwear is the same; whichever feels more comfortable for you is the way to go. Generally, cooler is better than very warm and cluttered.
4) Some like to face East; some need the bed against the wall, etc. Maybe it's time to rearrange the room? The key is to make yourself as comfortable as possible for sleeping. You may need to try different arrangements in order to find the one that you like best.
Certain foods also help to relax you for sleep preparation. Butters like peanut butter and almond butter are good to eat before sleeping. Turkey is also good before sleeping because it contains tryptophan, an amino acid which is a natural sedative. You want to be able to fall into a good, solid, deep and healthy sleep in order to lucid dream. I hope all these suggestions help. I wish you good astro travel and sweet dreams.
1. it might affect your actual dream, and if it's too loud it could affect you being able to lucid dream, but overall, probably not.

2. has light coming through a crack under your door ever affected your sleeping before?? No it won't, unless it really really distracts you for some reason.

3. no, again, unless it really distracts you, which it shouldn't.

4. It might just because of where the light is positioned while you're sleeping. Sun rises in the East and sets in the West so don't be facing East when you sleep!

If none of these affect your normal dreaming, then they won't affect you trying to lucid dream. Just relax, don't be so aware of the little things that could affect your dreams. I lucid dream on days when I don't even plan on it, just by accident.

I've recommended this book probably like five times to people on Answers. Get it if you want to learn to lucid dream, it's an amazing book, trust me. "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge, Ph.D.
